Medication Safety Refresher

This three hour refresher course is designed to remind nurses and senior carers of best practice in storing, administering and disposing of medication. Intended for staff with prior medication training and experience, it is an excellent means to reinforce good practice and keep your clients safe.
This is not an introductory course and is not suitable for novice personnel or staff. They should attend my one-day Medication Safety course.

- MAR sheet abbreviations
- Receipt, storage and ownership
- Hygienic administration
- 'Five Rights' of administration
- CD storage and administration
- Reporting side effects and errors
- Recording refusals
- Covert medication issues
- Accountability and delegation
- Verbal instructions
- Disposal of drugs and sharps
- Test
Workbook exercises, group discussion
Students are assessed on their performance in the class and in the summative test at the end.
