- Prevalence of falls among older people
- Physical / psychological effects of falls
- Intrinsic / extrinsic causes of falls
- Key steps in reducing falls
- Fall risk assessment
- Environmental safety issues
- Multidisciplinary involvement
- Need to record all falls
- Bedrail and restraint issues
- Knowledge test
Lecture, group discussion, case studies
and practical exercises.
Students are assessed on the basis of
their performance of the exercises and
in the summative test at the end.
