This three-hour course helps staff of all levels and disciplines recognise elder abuse and respond promptly and effectively to prevent the abuse of older people.

To raise awareness of elder abuse and help staff respond promptly and effectively should they have concerns.

- Prevalence, location, perpetrators of
abuse
- Key forms of abuse
- Possible indicators of abuse
- Preventing abuse
- Duty to report concerns
- External agencies
- Complaints procedure
- Knowledge test
Lecture, group discussion, case studies
and practical exercises.
Students are assessed on the basis of
their performance of the exercises and
in the summative test at the end.
